The first Camp NaNoWriMo of 2014 is over and it’s another two months until the next camping-meets-sprinting-meets-caffeinated-insanity adventure starts. Some writers will take this opportunity to rest and have a break from the demands of a writing goal… and others will jump straight into the next challenge. Which type of writer are you?
If you’re one of the latter, we’ve spotted just the event for you: MayNoWriMo.
Like Camp NaNoWriMo, MayNoWriMo involves setting yourself a word count goal for the upcoming month and working towards it daily. The MayNoWriMo community is fast growing, with a Facebook group dedicated to word sprints, prompts and participant updates. Think of it as an extended Cabin, a place to meet fellow writers, talk about writing and receive all the encouragement, support and motivation you need!
If you’re on Twitter, follow the #MayNoWriMo hashtag to find fellow WriMos and word sprinters and proclaim your word count goals to the world. And, while you’re at it, tweet @maziebones, founder of MayNoWriMo, to say hi and let her know you’re taking part!
So… will you be taking part in MayNoWriMo this month? What will your goal be?
What else has been going on lately on the sprinting scene? Virtual Writers’ #wordscrim sprinting event has returned to Twitter! (What is the #wordscrim? Find out here.)
On Mondays and Wednesdays, we’ll be hosting the 30 minute #wordscrim from @TheSprintShack. Come join us at the following times for some sprinting fun!
GMT: 10 p.m.
EST: 5 p.m.
PST: 2 p.m.
If you have a spare moment at these times each week, love to word sprint and like to host your own sprints, consider contacting @virtualwriters about hosting a #wordscrim for one or more days each week. At the moment, the Sprint Shack have Mondays and Wednesdays covered, but other sprintmeisters are needed to host #wordscrims on the other days of the week. Would you be willing?
Will you be sprinting with us over on Twitter this week?
